Job Description
BACKGROUND
The Communications Department of the UNDP Argentina office is responsible for carrying out the organization’s external institutional communications in accordance with its Strategic Plan. Its mandate includes managing the national office’s official communications channels, such as its website and social media, generating content for publication on these channels, covering events with UNDP representatives, maintaining relations with the press, and generating metrics to evaluate communications performance. It also ensures that the various communications products generated present a coherent message aligned with the office’s priorities, thus providing a consistent and unified communication to different audiences.
INTERNSHIP OBJECTIVES
The internship will contribute, through various tasks, to the UNDP Communications Area in Argentina being able to update its website, create design pieces, publish on official social networks, organize the physical and digital archive of the communications area and carry out audiovisual coverage at events, among other tasks defined by the Communications Analyst or the Digital Communication Associate.
SCOPE OF SERVICES/TASKS TO BE PERFORMED
Among their duties, the intern will be responsible for:
1) UNDP Argentina Website
a. Completing and/or updating and/or creating new content for the website, including the weekly summary.
b. Inserting and/or replacing images from different website content.
c. Translating content from Spanish to English and publishing the material on the UNDP Argentina website in that language.
2) Content generation for dissemination
a. Support and/or generate different graphic pieces that serve to complement and/or accompany content published on the website and/or official networks of UNDP Argentina, in accordance with the global brand manual.
b. Collaborate in the planning, production and/or recording of audiovisual pieces, clips, videos, etc., to be published in the corresponding format.
c. Assist in the publication of content for the official networks of UNDP Argentina, in accordance with the planning grid.
d. Generate different communication pieces (presentation templates, publication covers or flyers) as requested by the communications team.
e. Identify comments and respond to them in line with the response protocols established by the communications area.
f. Collect metrics from the accounts managed by UNDP Argentina and transfer them to the monthly report for analysis by the Country Office.
3) Archive organization
a. Systematize and organize the digital and physical archives of the UNDP communications area, thus preserving its institutional collection and utilizing its resources in a variety of ways.
4) Event Coverage
a. At the request of the Communications Analyst or the Digital Communications Associate, provide audiovisual coverage of events, activities, and weekly publications for subsequent dissemination.
To perform these tasks, the intern will be supervised and/or guided by the Communications Analyst or Digital Communications Assistant.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Intern must meet ONE of the following requirements to be considered:
a) Be enrolled in a graduate program (such as a master’s program or higher) or in a postgraduate internship program in the fields of communication, journalism, graphic design, image design, among other related fields, with a GPA equal to or higher than 8 at the time of application;
b) Be enrolled in the last academic year of a first university degree program (such as a bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, graphic design, image design, among other related fields, with a GPA equal to or higher than 8 at the time of application;
c) Have recently graduated with a university degree in communication, journalism, graphic design, image design, among other related fields (as defined in (a) and (b) above and with a final GPA equal to or higher than 8) and, if selected, must begin the internship within one year of graduation;
The intern’s academic performance and grade point average are essential for selection. A minimum of six months of experience and/or qualifications (work, volunteer, etc.) related to communication, social media, or journalism will also be essential. This experience does not necessarily have to be formal work, but must be demonstrated through a letter from the direct supervisor if requested.
Additionally, excellent command of the most common design, graphic, photo, and video editing programs is desirable. A strong capacity for learning and initiative is desirable. Proactive, decisive, and with strong human and ethical sensitivity, along with the ability to work with urgent requirements and in a team setting will be a plus. The ability to frequently present innovative ideas will be valued.
The individual must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment with internal and external partners, as well as adapt to work environments with high-level counterparts and project staff outside the office.
This internship is subject to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) policy, which stipulates a fixed monthly stipend intended to help cover basic living expenses related to the internship. The internship will last for a period of six months, distributed with a full-time workload to be determined if the candidate is selected. The intern will accrue leave at the rate of 1.5 days per month (or equivalent time) worked. Any unused leave days will be forfeited at the end of the internship. Unjustified absences during the internship period that exceed a total of nine days will be deducted from the monthly stipend. It should be noted that the work will be carried out in person, but the intern is required to have their own computer equipment to perform the assigned tasks. Furthermore, the intern is required to have medical insurance, which must be duly submitted.
At the end of the six-month period, the intern must submit a report approved by the supervisor to UNDP and receive an internship certificate.
