DURÉE : 12 MOIS

THE CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The incumbent of this position will work under the functional supervision of the Fleet and Garage Country Officer and under the general supervision of the Head of Sub-Office to assist in the repair and maintenance of light vehicles, trucks and generators which are useful for the smooth running of WFP operations in Miragoane, Jérémie and Jacmel and will also support the implementation of any activity related to the Garage and the WFP truck fleet in the South region of Haiti.

RESPONSIBILITIES/OBLIGATIONS:

  • Maintenance and repair of light vehicles, trucks and generators for WFP and its partners.
  • Ability to perform major repairs (gearboxes, tires, engine, suspension, steering system, air conditioning, braking system and others)
  • Ensure the planning of maintenance of all mechanical and hydraulic systems according to the technical instructions for routine maintenance.
  • Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults
  • Disassemble and reassemble the defective components according to the recommended technological and safety procedure.
  • Knowing how to make the right decisions regarding the restoration or replacement of worn parts, and ensuring their reassembly.
  • Conduct regular inspections of all light vehicles, trucks and generators.
  • Develop the intervention plan and procedure for the repairs.
  • To request parts or recommendations for specialized work.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the workshops and ensure the proper use of tools
  • Prepare requests for parts and consumables as needed
  • Perform the physical receipt of parts and consumables at the store.
  • Physically remove the parts and lubricants from the warehouse after approval from the sub-office chief.
  • Regularly inform superiors of spare parts stock levels
  • Conduct scheduled periodic physical inventories of parts
  • Submit the daily garage report and service documents on time for data entry into FMS
  • Keep management documents up to date, including receiving notes, parts release slips, stock sheets, and transfer sheets.
  • Prepare the spare parts order at Miragoane
  • Classify and archive all copies of parts management documents,
  • Keep storage areas clean
  • Take care of the used parts which must be returned to Port-au-Prince at the end of each month.
  • Perform any other tasks as requested by the supervisor

  • The work must be well planned and organized; repair problems must be identified quickly and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Accessories and computer equipment, as well as manuals and digital documents, are used correctly.
  • Technical advice provided to lower-ranking staff

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Formation :

  • Hold a Vocational Diploma or a Higher Vocational Diploma in automotive mechanics or electromechanics, automotive mechanics or equivalent

Experience :

  • Have at least five (10) years of progressive experience in the field of automotive mechanics and electricity

Knowledge and skills:

  • Knowledge of automotive electronics and air conditioning for heavy trucks and light vehicles, as well as the repair and maintenance of generators and motorcycles.
  • To be able to perform welding work

LANGUAGES :

  • Fluency in French is required and an intermediate knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
