Job Description

The Head of Research and Strategy at Ghazanfar Bank will be responsible for leading the bank’s strategic planning, market research, and competitive analysis activities to support informed decision-making and sustainable growth. This position is critical in providing data-driven insights, shaping long-term strategies, and identifying market opportunities and risks aligned with the bank’s vision to strengthen its position as a leading financial institution in Afghanistan.

Duties & Responsibilities

•Lead the development, implementation, and periodic review of Ghazanfar Bank’s corporate strategy to ensure alignment with the bank’s growth objectives and regulatory framework.

• Conduct in-depth market research, economic studies, and industry analysis to support business development, product innovation, and customer service improvements.

• Monitor Afghanistan’s financial market trends, regulatory changes, and geopolitical developments that may impact the bank’s operations.

• Perform competitor analysis and customer behavior assessments to identify areas for competitive advantage.

• Design and implement performance monitoring systems and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track the progress of strategic initiatives.

• Prepare and present comprehensive strategy reports, research findings, and market intelligence updates to the CEO, Executive Management, and the Board of Management.

• Provide expert recommendations on market entry, product diversification, and investment opportunities.

• Lead and mentor the research and strategy team to ensure high-quality, timely, and reliable outputs.

• Engage with external stakeholders, research institutions, and regulatory bodies to gather relevant information and maintain industry awareness.

• Support the risk management process by providing data for strategic risk assessments and forward-looking analysis

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field (Master’s Degree is preferred).

• Minimum of 7–10 years of proven experience in corporate strategy, market research, or financial planning, preferably in the banking or financial services sector.

• Strong analytical, research, and forecasting skills with the ability to translate data into actionable strategies.

• Solid understanding of Afghanistan’s banking sector, regulatory environment, and economic landscape.

• Proficient in using research tools, data analysis software, and Microsoft Office applications.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
