The driver is appointed to operate the truck/Kamaz Vehicles of the office and take care of the maintenance of the vehicle that is assigned to him. The driver is responsible for the rules and regulations applied internally and by Afghanistan’s Traffic Directorate and always be on time to attend the job and office.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure that the vehicle status is in good condition before field trips and equipped with necessary spare parts, such as spare tires, engine oil, brake fluid, and spare filters.
• Ensure that all the AWCC vehicles have standard tool kits, winterization tools, first aid kits, and emergency food rations.
• Ensure that accidents or damages are reported to the Transport Officer.
• Check vehicle licenses for allocated AWCC vehicles.
• Make sure that the vehicle is always clean and kept to AWCC standards, especially after field trips.
• Ensure that vehicles have enough fuel always, at least more than half the tank.
• Ensure quantity and quality of supply/fuel loaded and offloaded is precisely recorded in the waybill and endorsed.
• Ensure that the supply/fuel loaded is safely transported to the destination free from contamination, losses, or damage, and held accountable for the same.
• Perform a daily inspection on the assigned vehicle and ensure that they are mechanically sound and report any problems or defects to the immediate supervisor.
• Ensure that the Vehicle Logbook is duly completed on a daily and timely basis free from errors to maintain good records.
• Held responsible and accountable for the vehicle and any equipment or accessories given to the driver (and signed for) and ensure that it remains in good condition.
• Drive safely and carefully with due respect to traffic rules/regulations and care to avoid damage to the assigned vehicle.
• Whilst the vehicle is in the workshop for repairs & maintenance activities, attend and assist workshop activities as required.
• Read and understand the convoy movement SOP to ensure the safe and appropriate operations of the road mission.
• Should take responsibility and considerable care of fuel/supply carried by the truck from the departure point to the destination.
• Ensure that the vehicle is equipped with all required supplies.
• Ensure that the VRS is signed from the point of dispatch and at the final destination.
• Each driver should be aware of AWCC Vehicle Policy and take full responsibility for the vehicle assigned to him.
• Check allocated AWCC vehicles daily (checking oil leaks, accident damage, tire conditions, and servicing).

Job Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in driving large vehicles trucks/Kamaz.
• Valid Large vehicles driver’s license for a minimum of 5 years.
• Minimum knowledge of car mechanics.
• Thorough knowledge of the road system of the area of work.
• Thorough knowledge of traffic regulations.
• Moderate English.
• Ability to work in a cross-cultural and multi-religious environment with multi-national staff.
• Ability to prioritize work concerning need and urgency.
• A working knowledge of radio and telephone.
• The driver must maintain a high standard of personal appearance.
